Weight gainers are a great way to pack on some serious mass and bulk up, fast!

For some people it’s harder than others to put on weight and no matter how much you try and eat it just feels like you’re getting nowhere. This is where a good weight gain supplement will come in, by choosing a quality weight gainer that gives you complex carbohydrates instead of sugary carbs you will be giving your body the right fuel it needs to gain weight.

Good weight gainers give you complex carbohydrates from fine oats and protein from a quality whey source. This might not sound all that appetising but they mix pretty well and the results are incredible.

On average the weight gain powders we have selected provide you with between 400 – 500 calories per serving. If you find it rather difficult to gain mass then we recommend taking 2 shakes per day while monitoring your weight on a weekly basis. If your weight increases too drastically then you can always cut down to 1 shake daily to ensure the weight gain is mostly muscle mass.

The best time to take a weight gainer would be along with your breakfast meal (if you can manage both!) and/or pre-workout. With the pre-workout shake it’s best to have it around 30-45 minutes before you actually work out so you have time to digest it. The complex carbs and protein will be a great fuel for the workout and afterwards just have your normal protein shake then if possible try to eat within an hour of training for the best recovery and muscle gain.

We don’t recommend you take a weight gain shake without taking part in some form of exercise. While you may gain weight a little faster this way, it’s going to be mostly fat, if you have a decent exercise plan alongside it then you will be putting on healthy weight .
